The group arrived at about the same time as the people who rode up in the back of the snowcat. None of them looked happy, so David’s group felt lucky they’d opted for the snowmobiles.
The food was average at best. It started with a hot chocolate and included a single glass of wine, with additional glasses costing close to $13. Everyone stopped at one drink, and the fondue following the apéritif wasn’t anything special.
On the ride down the mountain, their guide let them be more adventurous. Luckily, no one died in the dark.
When they got back, everyone thought it was something they were glad they had done, but wouldn’t sign up for a second time. David ordered pizzas, and the party was taken back to the condo.
Greg and Joey followed Lexi into the kitchen when she announced she would make margaritas. David and Lauren teamed up against Phil and Cassidy to play pool. Phil had taken over the sound system, so they figured they could talk and not be overheard.
“We wanted to talk to you about something,” Joey said.
“About David,” Greg added.
Lexi looked at them curiously.
“Okay?”
“I wanted to thank him for finding me the job at USC,” Joey said.
“She means ‘thank’ him in a very personal way,” Greg said.
“And you’re telling me this because...?” Lexi asked.
“I thought maybe we could ease into it and possibly swap,” Joey said tentatively.
Greg could see that Lexi might not be on board with that suggestion. He wasn’t sure he was, either. They were saved when Tami walked in and interrupted their conversation.
“For some of the people closest to him, you guys don’t know David very well at all.”
She’d clearly overheard the last part of their discussion.
They all looked at her guiltily, like they’d been caught doing something naughty. None of them said anything, so Tami continued.
“David is big on rules, and he hates surprises. What’s one of his biggest rules about sleeping with girls?”
“Never sleep with someone who’s in a relationship,” Greg offered.
Tami tapped her nose to show that Greg had gotten her point.
“He’s also very possessive. Imagine, if you will, the four of you dancing with each other’s partner. He would be fine with that. What happens when he sees Greg and Lexi kiss or do more?”
Greg chuckled. That just confirmed what he already knew. Joey’s blurt about swapping was a terrible idea.
“If he didn’t kick my ass, I would say he would walk out because when David gets mad, it’s best if he’s left alone until he cools off. And he would be mad,” Greg predicted.
“And Lexi would probably be fired as his PA,” Tami added.
“That almost happened when I told him that I loved him,” Lexi admitted.
“That goes to my second point, surprise. I bet that shocked the shit out of David because, to that point, your ‘rules’ had been that you were only friends with benefits. Am I correct?” Tami asked.
“Yes,” Lexi admitted.
“So, I should think of some other way to thank him?” Joey asked.
“I didn’t say that. What you need to do is forget the swapping idea. That would involve an in-depth conversation with boy wonder before he would ever agree. He would have to hear from all of you that you were okay with it—and believe you—before he would participate. And that would ruin the surprise,” Tami said.
“But you just said he hates surprises,” Joey said.
“He does, but he’s also a guy. Say you stepped into the shower with him,” Tami suggested.
“He’d still say no because of the Dawson Code. He would have to hear from me that he had a green light,” Greg said.
Tami nodded her assent, then continued.
“If your goal is a foursome, I would suggest that you have him spend one-on-one time with Joey first. That way, you can get him comfortable with her before the two of you start bumping uglies in front of him. Lexi will also have to talk to him before that happens.”
“How would I bring that up?” Lexi asked.
“I would bet my beach house—that I don’t own—that David will be talking to you shortly after he spends time with Joey. He rightly believes that full disclosure is the best policy when stuff happens. That’s one of the things I like about him,” Tami said.
“I’ve heard some of the conversations David has with his parents. Mine would drop dead of a heart attack if I told them half the stuff he tells them. He has also been open with me. David might not tell me about every girl he spends time with, but he doesn’t keep it a secret. I imagine you’re right. If David were to sleep with Joey, he would tell me,” Lexi acknowledged.
Then Tami gave Greg a knowing look.
“Have you thought this through?”
“Why? What does Greg have to worry about?” Joey asked.
“David is ... uh ... a force of nature in bed,” Lexi shared.
“Greg can hold his own,” Joey said to defend her boyfriend.
Tami shook her head as she left.
Greg was glad she’d intervened. He now realized that the way he’d been thinking of approaching this very likely would’ve driven a wedge between him and his brother. Tami had also sown seeds of doubt in his own mind.
While Greg knew for a fact that he wasn’t on board with swapping, he was now unsure if he should let this happen at all.
Greg found Lexi alone so they could talk.
“What do you really think about all this?”
“I’m not sure about the swapping, but I’m also not in a position to tell David who he can and can’t see. I know he sees other people, but I can only see trouble if we hook up,” Lexi said.
He nodded his agreement.
“I told Joey that I sometimes missed variety. But I was as shocked as you were when she announced the possibility of swapping.
“I’m torn. I asked Joey to move in and help me raise my three kids. Yet I haven’t sucked it up and made a commitment to her,” Greg said.
“Do you plan to do it? Ask her to marry you?” Lexi asked.
He shook his head.
“No,” was his one-word answer, then he added, “I’m in no hurry to do that again.”
“So, what are you going to do?” she asked.
“I think we’re in the same boat. If Joey wants to do it, how can I say ‘no’?”
Lexi shrugged.
“I say let them have their fun. I know for David and me, we aren’t there yet, and who knows what the future holds? If Joey’s the only girl he sleeps with on this trip, I consider that a win. I honestly thought that either Cassidy or Tami would have jumped him by now,” Lexi admitted.
Greg had a lot to think about before Joey thanked David. If he went along with it, he vowed to be okay with it.
Chapter 50
David
David heard Lexi get up and take her shower. He was still in that in-between state of half awake and half asleep as Lexi got dressed and left. A few minutes later, she came back in. He assumed she’d grabbed a coffee.
A trace of a smile touched his lips when he felt the bed move and the comforter and sheet pulled down his body to his knees. When he felt fingers wrap around his member, he opened his eyes.
“Whoa, hold on...” David began as he discovered it wasn’t Lexi but Joey.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Greg leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed.
“Have fun,” Greg said as he stood straight, turned, and closed the door behind him.
David was in the process of overthinking the situation when he felt wet lips wrap around Mr. Happy’s head. His cock decided to stand up and say hello to Joey. Mr. Happy took control of the body because he felt thinking this to death wasn’t what was needed at the moment. Then the big brain reengaged.
“Stop!”
David paused a moment to take a better look at Joey, who was naked except for a thong. Her body was extremely fit, and she had impressive breasts. But, to be honest, that wasn’t what he was interested in. Joey had a world-class ass that he’d admired for several months as she pushed his work-outs.
