About the Author

Phil Patton is the author of Made in USA: The Secret Histories of the Things That Made America, selected by the Book-of-the-Month Club; Open Road, named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year; Voyager (with Jeana Yeager and Dick Rutan); and other books.

He writes the “Public Eye” column for The New York Times and is a contributing editor of Esquire, Wired, and ID magazines.
