“Do you really want to know who I am?” There seems to be a silence as they both register the current face of the creature that stands before them. The Guy Fawkes mask which is pale faced and outlines a beard stares back at them. Slowly lifting the mask away from my face with my left hand, it seems like an eternity before the cold air hits my skin. Matt and Kristy take in the new face in front of them, a face that holds blazing blue eyes, brown hair, white pale skin, and strong features. It is a face they have seen before, but not just a simple passerby or an occasion run in, but a face that once shared part of their life.

“Jason,” they both gasp out of horror.

“What are you doing?” Matt asks sounding both relieved and shocked at the same time. Kristy simply hardens her face and squints those dark green eyes, reviewing her true self behind that blonde hair, white skin, and tailored body. It wasn’t that she is ugly by any means, she is beautiful displaying the old southern bell persona, but what is ugly is the personality and the workings of her mind. Her ability to lure people in only to destroy them for her own amusement or her own gain, rising to the point that if you posed even the tiniest of a threat to her ecosystem, she ensured you were the once that suffered, but if you proved beneficial then you became her slave.

Matt was a different story, as growing up with each other we developed a bond that made us inseparable. Fucked up as his childhood was, abandoned by a whore of a mother, a raised by a drunk and abusive father, and throw in and a whole lot self-esteem and mother issues, we had the perfect storm. Factor in the chiseled body, perfect arms, strong back, and a dick roughly nine inches, he was irresistible to the opposite sex. I spent most of our friendship watching him slip from relationship to relationship, every time broken and crying, and even going as far as to attempt suicide made me draw closer to him. I was his emotional protector, as I knew how to calm him down and direct his energy and focus elsewhere, at least till until one relationship changed the track of both of our lives. Rosie managed to give him some hope of finding peace, but when his insecurities struck him once more he indulged into desires that would end the relationship. As a last ditch effort to win Rosie back, Matt joined the army in an attempt to fulfill the hidden desire Rosie once mentioned during pillow talk of marrying a man in the armed forces. Needless to say, everything went into a downward projection, he enlisted and left for basic training and furthered his career and his list of relationships. His desperation to not be alone lead to him fast-tracking a marriage to a girl named Emma right before they deployed. With her also being in the armed forces, it allowed them to stay together in a cramped metal container for nine months, stuck in an ill-fitting relationship. Matt and Emma destroyed what was left of one another and as a result, they became so distant from one another they played to each other’s insecurities. Fast forward through a divorce and some months of endless drinking and personality destruction, Matt falls into the sights of the ever evil Kristy.

It’s not that Kristy was a bad fit for Matt by any means, as they fit together, but she was just as destructive as him. Coming from a poor and ruthless family she developed her own methods for controlling those things that she could not, mainly consisting of using her targets and framing them into situations that she could control. The first husband Derik was used like any good pawn until he got smart and tried to leave. Kristy decided to take control and find a way to keep him, and just like any good whore, she got pregnant. It wasn’t divine intervention by any means, more that she would puncture the condoms and switch out her birth control for mints. Needless to say, the day she was late, was the day she gained full control over her relationship with Derik, furthering the destruction of her morals and personality, and even bearing another child. If there was ever a woman who was born without the parenting gene it was Kristy, as both children suffered from a lack of attention and affection during those crucial developing years, creating clones of herself. She despised the children as they never allowed her the freedom she desired, but she also saw the benefit they had in controlling others and ensuring she garnered enough attention. Derik realizing his inevitable ability to escape found a loophole and joined the military. Kristy, being the cold hearted bitch she was, she wouldn’t let her husband get the attention and joined the military as well, leaving her children with family and friends. As the relationship began to approach its final ends, and Kristy discovering her full ability to control people as a Sargent, she decided to use her new skills to eliminate herself of her husband. However, Derik would not get off easily, as Kristy paid a fellow soldier to rape and beat her to the point she wound up in the hospital, only to frame her husband and ensured she destroyed his career and reputation.

Shortly before the divorces of both Matt and Kristy, they found each other and set in motion the very events that led to the destruction of two relationships. Kristy used her rape and beating as a way to draw Matt in, and it worked as he soon became her new pet and cheated on his wife Emma. Kristy gained the very thing she desired and the perfect pawn for giving her everything she has ever wanted, except there, was only one person standing in her way, that person being me.

I was the emotional support that Matt needed, but when he left I still attempted to perform that role, a role that proved difficult to master from afar. So when the time came, I jumped at the opportunity to join him and his first wife Emma in Texas near the base. It was a move that not only encouraged personal and emotional growth for me but also aided in keeping Matt from a path of destruction. My attempts bore little fruit, and I grew homesick, so I moved back home but found that during this time he separated from Emma, only to go into a downward spiral. It was around this time the ever evil Kristy entered his life and she started to sink her hooks into him. After a short visit during the holidays, I saw the damage she had inflicted upon him, leaving him a mess after she left him claiming he cheated, an act he certainly was guilty of before on others, but an act he was innocent of this time. After I had returned home it was obvious that he needed me, yet I had prior commitments of my own. It wasn’t soon after that Kristy clawed back into life, using the previous excuse to leave him as a method of control. Unknown to me at the time, Kristy viewed me as a threat to her reign as I posted the only other ability to encourage and discourage Matt, even more, evident after she got back together with him. Kristy had every move figured out to get me to move back down to Texas to support Matt, as she conjured up with the most skill to drive a wedge between Matt and me, leaving me stranded alone, thousands of miles from my closest support system.

It began with little comments and criticisms that often ran off my thick thin, but this angered her more. Kristy often found ways to set me up for failure, such as breaking a hinge on a picture frame and asking me to hang it, only to have it fall and crash later, or asking me to vacuum and later remove the O-ring and blaming it on me dumping it in the trash. All petty things that only resulted in slight tensions between Matt and me, but ones that I noticed could lead to bigger issues. It was when I distanced myself from being in situations with her that she realized she had me where she wanted and using the fact that she was pregnant with her third child, Matt’s first, to draw us apart even more. She blamed me for issues that were having and then reasons she was upset. It wasn’t until the day she pushed me too far and I told her that she was a cold-hearted bitch and should burn in hell, that she finally won. It was the strike of the ax she needed to finished driving the wedge between me and Matt, causing the fifteen-year friendship to come to an end.
