“Does that mean I won't be able to wear bathing suits ever again?” I asked.
Percy cocked an eyebrow at me. “That’s what you're worried about?”
“I’m worried about a lot of things right now. But it is nice to distract myself with simple problems rather than the big ones.”
“Way to keep yourself sane.” Ajax said.
I giggled and went back to the book that I had been reading. Tomorrow, the guys were going to see about sneaking me over to the hospital to see my father. I was excited and rearing to go right at that moment, but they insisted that I was still too unwell to travel that far.
I guess they had a point, as even sitting here with a book in my hand was exhausting.
I was just drifting off for another nap when a loud banging jolted me awake. Someone was knocking on the door.
I shared a look with the other two. None of the guys had knocked so far since I had woken up, which meant this wasn’t one of them.
As quiet as a mouse and as sneaky as a ninja, Percy slid off the bed and navigated his way out of the room. He came back a few minutes later, his look of concern morphing into one of confusion.
“It seems there is a federal agent at your door.”
My heart sank, and my eyes widened. With a little help from Percy and Ajax, I got myself out of bed and to the front of the cabin.
I stood on my tiptoes and peeked through the peephole. Sure enough, standing on the porch was a man in a sleek tailored suit and perfectly styled hair. The good news was this man wasn’t a stranger. The bad news was this man was not a stranger.
“It’s Clint,” I hissed.
“Who’s Clint?” Ajax asked.
I gulped.
Clint was my family's handler.

Acknowledgments
I would like to first and foremost to again thank my two best friends who not only helped me come up with these wonderful characters but then helped with the truly difficult part of writing a book, the editing *insert dramatic music and thunder claps here*. I honestly couldn’t afford to hire an editor this time around, so Emilee And Amber took time away from their lives to help me try and perfect this book
That being said, no one catches everything. So if you kind reader notice something I would be very grateful if you contacted me through one of the links on the next page. After a couple months, I’ll compile all the edits fans have noticed and update the book. Thank you in advance.
I would also like to thank my family and friends for your kind words and constant encouragement.
Most of all I would like to thank you fellow readers. Without you, authors like me would have to find other passions to make a living from, and at least for me, weaving stories and building worlds is one of the greatest gifts I was given.
About The Author
Avery Thorn is the Pseudonym for the young adult author Jennifer Natoli and it’s a pretty cool fake name if I do say so myself. An artist from South Florida I’ve dabbled in all sorts of mediums, such as: paint, wood, clay, glass, and the classic pen and pencil. Not just visual arts either, as for many years I performed music with Tuba, the violin, and my own vocal cords. Writing and reading have always been my real passion though, and I love that I have the opportunity to get my stories in the hands of readers around the world.
