Once in Brooklyn

Hi Mandy!

Hello Light! How are you?

Yes, I'm going to work. New appointment.

And what are you doing now?

Head of Marketing Department.

Wow! Well, good luck!

Thank you!

LIGHT ran a neighbor standing on the steps of the house and got into a taxi.

She was promoted a week ago. And now her salary was as much as one hundred thousand dollars a year. LIGHT never thought that at thirty, instead of being a housewife and raising two (or three?) Beautiful children, she would build a career in one of the largest corporations in New York.

It didn't work out with love yet. Rare guys in her life were all completely repulsed tightly. One was a poker player, Jason, she didn't seem to remember his name anymore; the second was a disco dancer who always forgot about their anniversary. LIGHT did not want men to think only of themselves, but she came across all some complete daffodils.

The taxi was not going fast. The journey from Brooklyn to New York City was a long one, but there was a lot of time. LIGHT always left the house strongly in advance.

She watched the flashing pictures in the backseat window.

Mr. Jennings's shop, Patti Watson's, Manhattan Capitals bank … all these establishments were still closed, and will only open after an hour and a half, and she is already on her way! Mom would be proud of her.

As a child, my mother often told the LIGHT to put things in order in my head. That she hovers in the clouds, and can not bring to mind a single thing. Well, mom? What do you say now?

LIGHT has always had many events in his life. One day an African-American man with a coal-black skin knocked on her door, he asked her to go with him to walk his dog. When LIGHT asked why she was the one, he replied that he had met her for a long time on the way to the East Side, where he worked as a sales manager, and had long wanted to meet her. By the way, they later became friends. His name is Joy.

The taxi crept slowly through the streets of Brooklyn, a familiar melody playing on the radio. Light tried to remember what it was called. It seems to be Whitney Houston. Or Dianne Warwick. Some of them, for sure!

LIGHT took her phone out of her bag and began flipping through the Instagram feed. It was full of bright and beautiful pictures from the life of her friends and celebrities. Rachel is feeding her dog, Anna is showing off her engagement ring, Jasper is making a burrito, and Helen is swimming in the ocean.

Life is beautiful and amazing, isn't it?

Finally, the car drove up to the skyscraper where the office of her company was located. Light thanked the driver, paid him and got out of the car. The sun blinded my eyes.

"How good!" she said to herself and began to climb the steps.

The summer was hot, but at the same time it was not echoing, but calm.

Hello everyone! – by entering

the premises where the marketing department was located, of which she was now the head, SVET greeted everyone present. Someone tore off their heads from the screens of the monitors, and also greeted, while someone did not react at all, continued to sit, immersed in their occupation.

LIGHT smiled and walked into her office. Tossing her bag into the visitor chair, she sat down at the table. The blinds were already open, apparently by a cleaning lady, and the bright summer sun was shining through the window.

"Mmmm. I love you, life!" she said once again. It was such a good-natured lifelover manifesto that she was, which she proclaimed very often. More often to myself, but sometimes in social networks, or in conversations with friends. Everyone knew that LIGHT was not at all prone to depression – that she was a real sun bunny. And this will remain until gray in the temples.

The cell phone rang.

It was Tanya, her manicurist. She asked how her marigolds were feeling, and if she wanted to stop by at lunchtime today and update the design.

LIGHT looked at her watch. If she has time to submit the report by twelve, by one o'clock she will jump into a taxi, then perhaps she will be able to make it.

Tanya was delighted, they always chatted great during the procedures, said that she was waiting for her at exactly two, and hung up.

Finally there was a little more work to be done. LIGHT connected her Apple personal computer to the network, and began to work. The day promised to be long.

– Get your hands off me, scum! cried the LIGHT. The loser held her very tightly, tightening her wrists so that it caused unbearable pain.

The bastard bared his teeth:

– Rubbish. Give the rest of the loot. – The bastard spat on the asphalt.

– I have no money, I told you. growled the LIGHT. “I gave you everything I had.

The coward giggled disgustingly:

– Eh, no, nyashechka. We know you have something else! Otherwise, you would not walk the streets with the latest iPhone in a gold wristwatch at night.

– I have nothing. – barked LIGHT. – GET OUT, MRAZI.

– Hush hush. The bastard twisted the tip of his weapon, a sharp hunting knife in front of her nose.

“If there’s nothing else, then get ready to experience some pain.

– Yes, easily … oh … – LIGHT did not finish, she was overtaken by a strong blow of the Loser in the stomach.

After that, the Bastard slashed her in the head with the hilt of his knife, and she fell unconscious.

The light woke up from the fact that someone gently stroked her head. She about

She opened her eyes and saw an incredibly beautiful male face in front of her. He looked at her affectionately, tenderly, as if she were a sleeping child.

– Hello. SHADOW gently ran a finger over her lips.

For some reason, the Light was not at all afraid of him. He inspired confidence with his absolute inner calm.

– My name is SHADOW. I found you two hours ago. I tried to bring to my senses. But you still didn't want to wake up.

– It's Three. They attacked me.

– I guessed. You got robbed and beaten, right?

– Ddda … – Light oyknula, apparently reminded of himself hit on the head.

SHADOW lifted her off the ground, picked her up and flew up.

On his way to the cloud, he lulled her to sleep with quiet singing and talking.

“No one will ever offend you again. You are mine now. LIGHT didn't ask anything else. She just smiled gratefully, almost blissfully.

A SHADOW lived in a castle on a cloud. It was a special, almost magical place where only he and his friends – the heavenly dogs-chimeras – lived. Watchdog chimeras had several rows of teeth, each of which could easily tear human flesh to shreds.

They reliably guarded the castle from intruders. LIGHT immediately fell in love with this place. In the castle on the Cloud, there was no need to cook, wash, make the bed – here you just had to be yourself. At least that's what the SHADOW told her. The first three weeks, she did not get out of bed, because down on the ground, she was seriously injured. She had a bruise on her head, all her hands were bruised and her lip was split. Shadow stroked her hair, made compresses on the damaged areas and sang wonderful melodies all the time. After three weeks, Light for some reason thought that it was probably time to return to earth.

She asked Shadow what he thought about this. He told her that he did not advise her to return to Earth, because people are heartless and cruel. And sooner or later, this situation will happen again. Light nodded. And she stayed with him. Thus began their life in a castle on a cloud, a place where nothing bad ever happened. Shadow occasionally visited Earth on various matters, but always returned very soon. And the LIGHT did not let go to the Earth any more. Over time, their "cloudy" life turned three years old.
