Эта книга не требует от читателя никакой особой подготовки по знанию истории. Однако возможно, что найдутся читатели, знающие историю лучше автора (доктора-хирурга), и могут критиковать его описания за интерпретацию фактов. Все историки обычно не согласны друг с другом. Я заранее отвечаю потенциальным критикам: когда историк собирает и изучает факты, он – учёный; когда он их описывает, он – художник со своим видением истории. Как художник он творит своё представление о фактах. История – это наука, но описание истории – это искусство. Я дал в этой книге свою интерпретацию.
