“And what about me?” asked the skink.
“Do whatever you like,” she said, with a shove against the pole. “Maybe if you’re nice to me I’ll pray to you. You could save up. Maybe even get big enough to make a living down by the docks.”
“Is that a promise?”
Umri laughed. “Don’t be ridiculous,” she said.
