Аннотация
While many excellent works deal at length with special periods or topics of geographical discovery, no single book covers the whole ground in a manner quite suited to the needs of the increasing number of students now reading honours courses in geography in the universities of this country. This book attempts to meet those needs, but it is hoped that it may also be of interest to a wider circle who wish to have a connected account of exploration. It lays claim to be little more than a compilation.
